Celebrate Canadian Film Day April 20

April 20, 2016 is National Canadian Film Day, a day to stand together with Canadians from coast to coast and pat ourselves on the back for something other than various ice-related sports and sports-related doughnut shops. It’s a light-hearted intervention for our national consciousness, a wake-up call to anyone who has not yet been exposed to the great cinematic stories we tell one another in this cold, vast country.

It is a way to get over ourselves and have some FUN! (Alright, it is during the middle of finals....)

In celebration of great Canadian film, instructors and their students are invited to join VIFF Vancity Theatre for a FREE SCREENING of any film on CANADIAN FILM DAY (April 20) all day until 5pm! For  details, please contact:  cecelia.cheung@viff.org

VIFF Vancity is offering four wonderful Canadian films scheduled to be shown that day. Get a group of students together and come celebrate awesome Canadian film on the big screen, the way it was meant to be seen.

If you can't get to the cinema, there are online options listed on the National Canadian Film Day site.

You can also celebrate Canadian Film Day with programs from Alloway Library's collection! To view  a selection of Alloway Library's Canadian film  offerings try an Advance search for the keywords "motion picture Canada" and limit your search to either "Streaming media,  Videos-DVD or Videos VHS"  Or visit Alloway Library's gateway to the National Film Board of Canada's CAMPUS collection.
