New Edition of Oxford E-Reference Title

Oxford Dictionary of Quotations (8 ed.)

Edited by Elizabeth Knowles

‘A glorious treasure-house for browsers’ – Times Literary Supplement
Over 20,000 quotations
A major new edition of the most authoritative dictionary of quotations available brings you the wit and wisdom of past and present – from the ancients of East and West to the global village of the 21st century. Find that half-remembered line in a paradise of quotations for all occasions, from over 3,700 authors. Lord Byron may have taken the view: ‘I think it great affectation not to quote oneself’, but for the less self-centred this classic work provides a quote for every occasion, whether from the greatest minds of history or from undistinguished characters known only for one happy line.
Drawing on Oxford's unrivalled dictionary research programme and unique language monitoring, over 700 new quotations have been added to this eighth edition from authors ranging from St Joan of Arc and Coco Chanel to Albrecht Dürer and Thomas Jefferson. Here is the ultimate answer to the questions ‘Who said that?’ (and when, and why).

New Offline Image Viewer Now Available for Artstor

We are pleased to announce the release of our Offline Image Viewer 4.0. This new release includes the following new features and a bug fix:

New Features:
  • Compatible with Mac OS X 10.9 and Windows 8.
  • Link to image viewer - clicking the link to image viewer icon on an image will open that image in the image viewer within the Digital Library.
  • Embedded hyperlinks - you can now embed hyperlinks in your OIV slides.
  • Saving to legacy format - this version of OIV allows presentations to be saved in OIV 2.6 format so that they can be opened by OIV version 2.6 and above (without image viewer linking functionality). This version can also open OIV 2.6 and 3.X files.
Bug Fix:
  • Dual-screen presentations - when using two screens in presentation mode, images will advance in pairs, e.g. screen 1 will show odd-numbered images, screen 2 will show even-numbered images.
To access this new version, uninstall any previous versions of OIV, log into your account, and install OIV 4.0 by following these directions: http://help.artstor.org/wiki/index.php/OIV_Installing.
