BOOKMYNE PUTS ALLOWAY LIBRARY ON YOUR IPHONE

Alloway Library users can now connect to their library with BookMyne, a great new mobile app for iPhone and iPod Touch users. Working with Alloway Library’s new SirsiDynix Symphony operating system, this industry-leading, free app gives users convenient, full access to all the enhanced content of Alloway Library’s eLibrary catalogue in a mobile-friendly display.

But BookMyne is not just a way to mine the catalogue.  Users can log in to check and manage their library accounts,  confirm the library’s operating hours, and even find their way to the library with a GPS-enabled Google map.

One of BookMyne’s key features is barcode scanning capability, which lets the user snap a picture of the barcode on any book, video or CD (at a bookstore or friend’s home, for example) and retrieve information about Alloway Library’s holdings for that title. If the item isn’t at Alloway Library, BookMyne can identify other SirsiDynix libraries in the area that have it.

BookMyne users can also receive reading suggestions from a social recommendation engine powered by Goodreads.com  and best-seller lists.  Then use BookMyne to check the library’s holdings and place a request for materials of interest --  all on an Apple mobile device.
The BookMyne application can be downloaded from the Apple App Store for free. Support for French, German and Spanish language speakers is included.

All SirsiDynix library technology is supported on Android, Blackberry and other Smartphone browsers for mobile-friendly access so, even without an iPhone, users with other devices can still access Alloway Library’s eLibrary resources. An app for Android phones is being developed.

Once users download this app from the iTunes store they should save TWU Library as a favourite.
Alloway Library’s eLibrary can be found online at library.twu.ca
